MEET OUR STAFF
Shelia Smith-Gates is filled with God given motherly instinct. She is grateful to announce that she’s the proud mother of two, Jocasta Odom and Jessica Gates. She also enjoys lending her instincts to nurturing and molding them all. And to show that she still has it, she spends time with here two grandsons Connor and Dylan Odom who keep her on her toes.
In Shelia’s walk, her path has surly been tested. Shelia is an awesome testimony of never giving up on your dreams. She graduated in 2008 from Mercer University with a B.S. in Human Service with the concentration in Mental Health. Furthermore, Shelia also obtained a Minor in Education. She can truly attest to diversity, her background includes being a court reporter for Social Security for the Office of Disability. She has also worked in law enforcement. Shelia demonstrate all aspect of her humility (modestly or respectfulness) to help others with counseling, facilitation and support through the Sistah Circle, with hopes of inspiring her fellow sistah’s.
Nilda is a proud mother of three wonderful children Tahze'(11), M.J. (8), and Anaya (6). Nilda capitalized on her opportunity to attend Griffin Technical College, she obtained a specialization in Centrile Sterile and Patient Care Assisting. She is also a Registered Phlebotomist. Nilda is part of the Community Activities Team that focuses on the developmental goals of all consumers. Nilda is an aspiring poet she enjoys writing poetry.
Nilda recognizes her purpose which is her calling to assist, serve and aid others in any manner that is pleasing to God! Nilda is thankful for being a part an organization such as the Sistah Circle where she can passionately exude her gift. Nilda recognizes that she must be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let her request be made known to God(Philippians 4;6).With her request being made to God she prays to dedicate her time and energy in assisting young girls get focused and stay focused on God's purpose for their life. Nilda lives by Psalms 119;105; due to some heavy times she has experienced- The word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. She now lives TOTALLY sold out for Jesus!
Melita Curtis is a proud mother of a beautiful 1 year old daughter. She is a nurse who speacializes in the best bedside services. She attended Valdosta State University and Southwest Georgia Technical College where she received her nursing degree. She was meant to be a nurse because her heart lies in serving people. She places all her hardwork for God and her patients. Melita works hard for her patients because of her motto "I would want someone to care for me as if I were a relative; so why would I not do the same for others." She treats her patients with the utmost respect, compassion, and love.
Melita is very active in her church. She reaches out to the young ladies and talks to them about protecting their bodies. She informs the young ladies on how important it is to abstain and focus on God. She discusses the deep questions that some children are afraid to ask their parents.Yet, Melita is about safety and educating the young ladies about the Truths of Teen Life.
She is passionate about helping others, traveling and living life to the fullest. She knows hat with hard work you can accomplish anything. Melita is a loving person who brings her nurturing and caring spirit to the Sistah Circle. She has been apart of the Sistah Circle for 14 years.
Chrystal Davis is a dedicated Educator. She obtained a B.S. degree in Human Service from Mercer University in 2004. Her lifetime goals were to become a person to impact the lives of at-risk children. Chrystal’s aspirations led her into the field of teaching students with disabilities. The everyday rewards she received from teaching, motivated her to continue her education. She discovered the philosophy that “One size does not fit all.” She currently holds a Master’s of Education (Instructional) from Central Michigan University. Furthermore, Chrystal is currently attending UGA to obtain certification in Special Education.
Chrystal’s immediate support system consists of her loving husband of 5 years, Robert Davis Jr., her 3 beautiful, never ceasing to amaze daughters, Jayla (10), Jaliyah (5) and Janiya Davis (2). Other supporters of Chrystal extend too many family and true friends. Her number one is God Almighty Himself, who’s the head of her life and whom she fears. She is currently a member of Northside Baptist Church of Griffin GA, under there leadership of Pastor Willie Williams. Chrystal’s spiritual goal is to allow God to use her anyway “He” see’s fit. In her spiritual circle is none other than the Founder & CEO of the Sistah Circle Jocasta Odom. The Circle has allowed Chrystal to pursue a found passion to dance spiritually for the uplift of her fellow sister’s. She is grateful to assist in such a powerful vision and as the Director of Public Relation.
Charlene McClarinis a hardworking woman who serves her church and community wholeheartedly. Charlene has been married for 36 years to Greg McClarin and they have 1 daughter Jasmine McClarin. She has been apart of the Sistah Circle for 8 years.
Jessica Maranda-Chelsea Gates is currently a student at Kennesaw University.As an aspiring actress, Jessica is currently seeking to fulfill her life long dream by training to perfecting her acting and communication skills. Jessica is attending Tasha Smith (starred in “Why did I get married too”) acting school called T.S.A.W. She has had the honor of receiving training from Tasha Smith herself. In her corner, she receives the support and motivation needed from her family and close friends. Jessica’s top priority is worshiping and praising God in whatever way possible. She loves spiritual dancing, and in this area is one other gifted talent of Jessica. As the Director of dance, Jessica choreographs and facilitates spiritual dance pieces for local churches, the community, and the Sistah Circle.
Jawuandulyn Niquel Jones was born on January 20th 1983, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama; she grew up in East Point, GA. Her interests are photography, traveling, trying new recipes and spending time with her friends and family. She graduated from North Springs High School in 2001 and earned her B.S degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from Georgia Southern University in 2006. After working as a Physical Therapist Technician for 2 years she made the decision to go back to school. In 2009, she graduated from the University of Phoenix with a MBA in health care management. Today she wants to continue encouraging young people to follow their dreams no matter how great.
I am Tiffany Johnson. I am 27 years old and I have a 4 year old son. I am in the U.S. Navy and have been an active duty Sailor for 7 years. I am also pursuing my Bachelors Degree in Psychology. My hobbies include yoga, movie nights with my son, and traveling the world. I am very excited about being a part of the Sistah Circle staff and encouraging and motivating my Sistahs!
